Carrying a net is only necessary if you plan on catching fish.

Fly fishing, NOW we can talk! Yes, yes, I CAN see a reason to stand with waders in a cold river flipping a little feathery bug over the gently moving brown water, blue with the reflected summer sky, as the wind riffles my hair and the dog sleeps on the shore.
Eons ago saw the movie "A River Runs Thru It" and decided that fly fishing was an excellent reason to play in the water. Actually caught some trout up in Idaho. Not bad. Dragged the boys with me and showed them how - one loved it, one just sort of liked it, but still goes off "fishing" still.
Sorry I haven't been around. Have been working my ass off and all the animals seemed to develop "issues" at the same time. Sigh.
I've missed your stories, Jess...
