For some reason I can't comment on your most recent post. I get a window with the message:

An error occurred:

I don't know if it's you or me, but it happens in both IE and Mozilla.

Anywho...

What an amazing way to say good-bye. It's always so sad to lose a friend or family member -- anyone you've known a long time and were close to. But it's also satisfying in this time to find joy in the very cause of the sadness: the memories and the fact these now parted friends have shared times and a bond that they hadn't with billions of strangers.

A blogger recently wrote that the meaning of live is to give life meaning. I think that our lives are most meaningful when we're with those the we consider to be fellow travelers. And even when the facts of life take away those we've come to know and love, we'll always have them with us because they have, by definition I think, contributed to our own makeup -- usually in ways that they were never aware of.

It sounds like your friend had made peace with his fate just as, I suspect, most people in his position are drawn to do.

I'm sorry. I thought I had more, but I think I'll just leave it there, Jess. Godspeed to your friend and, um, for the helluvit I think I'll hoist a cold one in his honor if y'don't mind...

Aah, that felt good! :D

Mmkay. The reason I couldn't comment on the post is apparently because it has been deleted. It was a beautiful tribute. What gives?
